The Challenge:
Our client is seeking an applicant who will be responsible for maintaining, tuning, and monitoring the Oracle database in the cloud. The candidate will also be responsible in supporting the database related needs for Capital Projects. The ideal candidate will have production support experience with Oracle Exadata and Database Cloud Services. The candidate will work primarily under the Customer Applications Team.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade databases in the cloud.
- Proactively monitor production databases for performance and resource utilization.
- Provide support for production batch run at night (on-call).
- Manage backup and recovery of all critical environments.
- Provide support for Enterprise Projects and Deployment.
- Automate administrative tasks using scripting and utilities.
- Implement security measures in the Oracle Databases and Applications.
- Follow standards and document the process and procedures when appropriate.
- Plan and coordinate patches, installs, and upgrades.
Essential skills and requirements:
- Database Backup and Disaster Recovery with a strong understanding of high-availability solutions.
- Database cloning procedures to create different environments.
- Database installation, patching and upgrade.
- Writing and optimizing PL/SQL.
- Writing scripts to automate DBA utilities and manage various system operations.
- Performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization of the different database environments.
- Administration of multi-tenancy database architecture.
- Database replication, security, encryption, and data masking.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
- Source code management: Git, Github
- Knowledge in AWS is a plus
Education:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred
- 5+ experience in Oracle Database Administration
- Hands on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
